The Second Pentecost

by Paul Jablonowski

December 25, 2019

"Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.
To those who eagerly wait for Him, He will appear a second time, apart from sin for salvation."

Hebrews 9:28

Jesus is coming again! Are you ready? The "blessed hope" in Scripture is the return of Jesus. "Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and savior Jesus Christ!" (Titus 2:13)

His first coming was to die. His second coming is not to die, but to rule and reign the earth. His overcomers will rule and reign with Him for 1,000 years. This is where we are in "His story" (history). Namely, we are in the midst of the 33 and 1/2 year transition into this 1,000 years. He has chosen overcomers in each generation. Most overcomers are in heaven awaiting their eternal reward. Some are alive and awaiting His return. His second coming.

When He returns, will we be one of those overcomers? This is the question of the ages. The "Age of the ages" is the "Millennium" we are now entering. This millennium will be the reward of the overcomers. It will be a time where truth overcomes lies/deception, and righteousness overcomes evil. But it doesn't happen all at once. There is a progression into this age of peace.

Law, Grace, and Peace are the three pillars of the ages. Moses initiated the Law. Jesus initiated Grace with His first coming; and will initiate true Peace with His second coming. The "Second Pentecost" is really the end of the 2,000 year long time period of Pentecost from Jesus until today. This second Pentecost will finish what was started with the first disciples in Acts chapter 2. The Second Pentecost is the culmination of the Age of Pentecost.

Jesus' first coming was the culmination of the Covenant of Law (Age of Truth) because Jesus was the FULFILLMENT of the Law and Truth. Likewise, the complete fulfillment of Pentecost awaits our generation as we end this Age of Grace. It will also see the fulfillment of the Covenant of Redemption where Jesus came to save all of mankind. The restoration of all man will be preached!!!!

Timing of Jesus Second Coming

Putting a time frame on the second coming of Jesus is not always easy, but it is important NOT to be ignorant as Scripture admonishes us: "Concerning the times and seasons... you, brethren are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief." (1 Thess. 5:1-4) When talking about the second coming of Jesus, Peter warns us that scoffers will mock those who await His coming because it has been so long. But then Peter gives us a timing hint to be watching when he says, "do not be ignorant of this one thing, that with the LORD, one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." (2 Peter 3:8)

With this KEY in mind - that one day is like a thousand years - consider the deeper meaning in the many Scripture verses that talk about the second coming of Christ on the "third day." The third day would be the third "thousand year" period since the first coming of Christ 2,000 years ago.

The obvious meaning when Jesus predicted he would "rise on the third day" is His resurrection three days after His crucifixion. Today, 2,000 years later, we await His coming again "on the third day." This longer term, higher purpose "third day" is the millennium we are now entering. Consider these Scriptures in light of the 1,000 year third day:

"The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day" (Luke 9:22). Prophetic of the millennium.

"Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow (2,000 years), and the third day (1,000 years) I shall be perfected" (Luke 13:32). For 2,000 years, Jesus has been casting out demons through His church body even as Jesus once cast out 2,000 unclean spirits that went into swine and drowned (Mark 5:3). But the 1,000 year Third Day will be a time that satan and his demons are bound (Rev. 20:2).

"On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there." (John 2:1) The wedding of Jesus and His bride occurs in this 1,000 year Third day.

But more than just Jesus rising on the third day, this Third Day is prophetic of His overcomers also rising to reign with Him during this final 1,000 year age often called The Millennium.

"After two days (2,000 years) He will revive us; On the third day (the Millennium) He will raise us up, that we may live in His sight" (Hosea 6:3). The key words being "us" and "we," because this Millennium will be the time when overcomers are raised from the dead to receive their inheritance of "living and reigning with Christ for a thousand years" (Rev. 20:6). Living overcomers will also be raised too "in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we (who are still alive) shall be changed" (1 Cor. 15:52). This "changing" includes resurrected bodies like Jesus got on the third day. "WE who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord... shall be caught up together with them (the overcomers who have died)" (1 Thess. 4:15-17), then we return with Jesus!

These are the ones Enoch saw in prophecy which is recorded in Jude 1:14 - "the LORD comes with ten thousands of His saints to execute judgment on all..." It will be a time of true justice in all the earth!

Not only the Third Day since Christ, but we also live in the dawning of the 7th day since creation. There has been 6,000 years since Adam until now. We are entering the 7th 1,000 year "day" of creation which is the Sabbath Rest of the Father. There is a promise of entering "His Rest" in our generation that was not possible in previous generations. But Hebrews 4:9-10 promises, "There remains a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself ceased from his works just as God did from His." The seventh day of creation is when God ended His work and rested which is prophetic of the blessing in this coming millennium: "Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work God had created and made" (Gen. 2:3).

Like the third day, this seventh day is also a day representing the second coming of Jesus. It was "after six days" when Jesus was transfigured on a high mountain with Peter, James and John. At this time Jesus' "face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light, and behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him" (Matt. 17:2-3). It is now, after 6 days of 1,000 years, that another transfiguration and resurrection is about to occur. This is called the "first resurrection" in Scripture which is reserved for the overcomers and sons who will be raised to rule with Jesus during this "7th day." The second resurrection is at the end of the 7th day millennium and is a resurrection of judgment. The first resurrection is called a resurrection of life (John 5:28).

This first resurrection of the overcomers is connected with the Second Pentecost, because both are occurring at the same time at the end of this current age of grace.

"Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years... and I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them... and they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years." (Revelation 20:6,4)

The First Pentecost

The second Pentecost is really just a continuation of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit from the first Pentecost. And even this first Pentecost in Acts 2 was an initial fulfillment of the Pentecost started by Moses in the Age of Truth and Covenant of Law. So lets take a look at both of these "first Pentecosts."

"Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to the people and sanctify them today and tomorrow (2,000 years), and let them wash their clothes. And let them be ready for the third day (millennium). For on the third day the LORD will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people" (Exodus 19:10-11). This is prophetic of the third day millennium. But the original intention of this "first Pentecost" was to be a sovereign visitation from God. Three times in the 7,000 year timetable of mankind God promised to visit us. These are sovereign visitations from God which have nothing to do with the will of mankind. But we can participate in them if we choose. The three main feasts of the LORD (Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles) were given to represent these three God visitations to earth:

1) The first visitation, Passover, was fulfilled in Moses' time when these feast days were also ordained. It brought forth the TRUTH of His law summarized in the 10 commandments. This LAW was given on the first Pentecost on Mount Sinai where fire from heaven killed 3,000 people who were too close to the mountain when Moses received this fiery law.

2) The second visitation, Pentecost, was fulfilled after Jesus rose from the dead and sent His Holy Spirit 50 days later (hence the term Penta (50) cost). This visitation represented the GRACE Jesus brought. Therefore there were 3,000 people who were saved in Acts 2 instead of the 3,000 who were killed at the first Pentecost during the age of Truth (Covenant of Law). "The letter kills, but the Spirit gives life" (2 Cor. 3:6).

3) The third visitation, Tabernacles, awaits us in the dawning new age of the millennium where we will learn true peace (unity) with a perfect balance between truth and grace. The things learned in each age build upon one another.

The book of Acts chapter 2 records the amazing outpouring of the Holy Spirit "when the Day of Pentecost had fully come" (Acts 2:1). However, this outpouring was only partially fulfilled. Acts 2 records a prophecy from Joel about God "pouring out My Spirit on all flesh... and it shall come to pass, that whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved" (Acts 2:16-21). But the writer of Acts stops here and does not quote the full verse from Joel, because it was not time for it to be fulfilled 2,000 years ago. Today, however, as we enter the Third Millennium since Christ, it is about to fulfilled! So lets look at what the rest of Joel says about this great outpouring of the Holy Spirit which is yet to be fulfilled:

The Second Pentecost

This is the fully quoted verse from the prophet Joel which Acts 2 only quotes the first half. The second half is highlighted in red. It says: "And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the remnant whom the LORD calls" (Joel 2:32). And that is not all. If you look at the next 2 verses, they complement what was not accomplished in the first Pentecost, which I believe will be a major part of the Second Pentecost:

"For behold, in those days and at that time, (time of the second Pentecost) when I bring back the captives of Judah and Jerusalem, I will also gather all nations, and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; and I will enter into judgment with them there on account of My people, My heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations; They have also divided up My land." (Joel 3:1-2)

The Valley of Jehoshaphat runs north/south between the Mount of Olives and the Temple mount in modern day Israel. Above, this aerial picture, shows the Valley of Jehoshaphat location (in red) being viewed from the southern tip of the ancient City of David.

Joel 3 goes on to talk more about this Valley of Jehoshaphat where all the surrounding nations will be judged. This has not happened yet. It is called the valley of decision where multitudes will be judged. While many other nations will be "desolate," this is the place where the LORD's holy mountain will be set up to abide forever from generation to generation. It is no wonder that there is so much turmoil and confusion regarding this land. It has a destiny like no other in the earth. But we all have a part in either supporting it or rejecting it.

"So you shall know that I am the LORD your God, Dwelling in Zion My holy mountain. Then Jerusalem shall be holy, and no aliens shall ever pass through her again... Judah shall abide forever, And Jerusalem from generation to generation. For I will acquit them of bloodguilt, whom I had not acquitted; For the LORD dwells in Zion." (Joel 3:17, 20, 21) Some people have a hard time forgiving the Jews for killing Jesus, but Jesus forgives them.

The Jews returning as a nation to their Creator and Saviour Jesus Yahshua ha Mashiach is part of the Second Pentecost. It is going to end where it all began in Jerusalem, Israel. But the far reaching effects will be worldwide, because Jesus died for the whole world and everything in it! Jesus came to redeem and seek and save that which was lost, especially his own natural family in the Jews.

Conclusion

"Up Zion! ...For thus says the LORD of hosts: "He sent me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye... Many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and they shall become My people. And I will dwell in your midst. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me to you. And the LORD will take possession of Judah as His inheritance in the Holy Land, and will again choose Jerusalem." (Zechariah 2:7, 8, 11, 12)

Jerusalem Israel has been a desolation for nearly 2,000 years. It was not possible at the time of the early disciples of Christ to finish the prophecy in Joel. But now is the time, at the end of this age of Pentecost, for Israel to be the firstfruit nation of the Kingdom. Grace and truth will meet together to create peace and unity in Jesus. This will happen on a national scale first. Then it will spread to the nations who are willing to receive it. It will one day fill the earth.

The Age of Pentecost is a 2,000 year period that is now ending. There is much to say about the Age of Tabernacles that we are in transition into right now. But we must finish Pentecost with that which started it: - the Holy Spirit! The greatest outpouring of the Holy Spirit this earth has ever seen is upon us in our generation. It will be "like" the flood in Noah's day. Only this time, it will save all of humanity instead of destroy all of humanity.

Like the first Pentecost that saved 3,000 souls instead of destroying them; This second Pentecost will fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. The enemy would try to divide us by "ethnos" or culture & race. But there is only ONE race and that is the human race! Jesus is the king of ALL humanity. God the Father is sovereign over His creation and will finish what He promised the ancient prophets. Namely, to restore a people in the land where His son shed His blood to redeem them. A firstfruits government to teach the nations agape love.

The human race will be represented by a new kind of government based out of Zion in Jerusalem Israel: - Consider Zechariah ch 8

Again the Word of the LORD of hosts came, saying:
Thus says the LORD of hosts: I am zealous for Zion with great zeal; With great fervor, I am zealous for her.
Thus says the LORD: I will return to Zion, and dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth, The mountain of the LORD of hosts, The Holy Mountain.
Thus says the LORD of hosts: Old men and old women shall again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, Each one with his staff in his hand because of great age.
The streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets.
Thus says the LORD of hosts: "If it is marvelous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days; will it also be marvelous in My eyes?" says the LORD of hosts.
Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Behold, I will save My people from the land of the east, and from the land of the west.
I will bring them back, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem. They shall be my people, and I will be their God, In truth and righteousness."
Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Let your hands be strong, you who have been hearing in these days, these words by the mouth of the prophets, who were in the day that the foundation was laid for the house of the LORD of hosts, That the temple might be built.
For before these days, there were no wages for man, nor hire for beast. There was no peace from the enemy for whoever went out or came in. For I set all men, everyone, against his neighbor.
But now, I will not treat the remnant of this people as in the former days," says the LORD of hosts.

For the seed shall be prosperous. The vine shall give its fruit. The ground shall give her increase. And the heavens shall give their dew. I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.

And it shall come to pass: That just as you were a curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel; So I will save you, and you shall be a blessing. Do not fear. Let your hands be strong.
For thus says the LORD of hosts: "Just as I determined to punish you, when your fathers provoked Me to wrath, says the LORD of hosts, and I would not relent.
So again, in these days, I am determined to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. Do not fear.
These are the things you shall do: Speak, each man, the truth to his neighbor. Give judgment in your gates for truth, justice and peace.
Let none of you think evil in your heart against your neighbor. And do not love a false oath. For all these are things that I hate," says the LORD.
Then the Word of the LORD of hosts came to me saying,
Thus says the LORD of hosts: "The fast of the fourth month, the fast of the fifth, the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be joy and gladness and cheerful feasts for the house of Judah. Therefore love truth and peace."
Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Peoples shall yet come, Inhabitants of many cities:
The inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, "Let us continue to go, and to pray before the LORD, and seek the LORD of hosts. I myself will go also.
Yes, many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem, and to pray before the LORD."
For thus says the LORD of hosts: "In those days, ten men from every language of the nations shall grasp the sleeve of a Jewish man, saying, "Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.""
